Stock Your Closet

So since I always start my posts off with an apology for why I haven't blogged, I decided to skip that part.

What have you been wearing lately? Here are a couple of my looks...
I've been too busy to even keep track of my life or what I'm wearing! The end of the year always comes in a whirlwind and I leave for my fashion internship in Boston in 6 days. How crazy is that?? Anywho...everyone loves a good deal on clothes right? And everyone also loves to dress like a celebrity and not break their bank? Well I know I do, and you're in for a treat. The other day I got a message on Facebook from a friend who is in many of my merchandising classes asking me to promote an adorable online boutique on my blog. Obviously I couldn't turn that down!
E's Closet Boutique is a trendy store where you can find affordable clothes that are stylish and fashion forward. They stock dresses, tops, shoes, shorts, pants, accessories and much more. Do you wanna know the best part about it? Everything in their store is under 50 bucks! And on top of that, if you order online and enter in the code smarchetta then you'll get 5% off your entire purchase! WINNING.
So make sure to go check out their website HERE because if you're anything like me then you'll probably want to buy everything you lay eyes on! Until the next post...

Wait....Summer is here already??

Wow. Let me just say...this year FLEW by. I cannot believe I will be a senior in college starting tomorrow?? It absolutely blows my mind, people! Throughout the 2011-2012 school year I have had so many great experiences, met some amazing people and really discovered who I want to be. Even though these semesters were definitely the most stressful out of all of my time at East Carolina, I have countless memories and opportunities to prove that all my worry and work was well worth it! Not only did I start writing for The East Carolinian...
but I met my future roommates (yay for next year!) who are now some of my closest friends...
celebrated my boyfriend and I's two year anniversary (dawwww)...
finally introduced myself to my CollegeFashionista boss Amy Levin in NYC...
and graciously accepted a Fashion PR internship in Boston for this summer with SUCCARRA.
I mean...if those things don't seem life changing to you, then I don't know what does!

Lately though, I have been running around like a crazy person trying to get things together. With so many finals to study for and packing to get done, I have had barely any time to sit down and enjoy all the fun activity and relaxation that comes along with spring! Hopefully now that I'm headed home to Charlotte I will be able to relax and focus on all that God has blessed me with. I am so excited to see my family this weekend and to prepare for Boston before I leave on the 26th!

Anywho...so although this post isn't loaded with tons of fashion information, I will leave you with some of my latest instagram looks. I hope everyone has had a wonderful year! Summer is within reach ladies and gents, we got this...

Instagramed Fedora Feelings

Last night I was laying in bed with wet hair (which means I knew I'd be braiding it this morning cus it'd be a wild, tangled mess) when I decided to plan my outfit around my gray fedora because of it's amazing ability to mask my laziness. My older sister has recently become obsessed with mustard yellow juxtaposed against gray, and I think it's a great concept. I love how you wouldn't expect the colors to match, but they look so ideal when thrown together. I took some tips from Cameron's look (aka baggy sweater, gray, hair to the side, fedora hat, etc)...
slipped on my favorite striped spicy mustard Madewell sweater, stepped into some longer jean cutoffs, topped it with my fedora, and slowly but surely concocted my comfy yet casual look...
What do you think??
I liked it for a simple day spent studying and anticipating the weekend. Along with my "look of the day" I also took some screen shots of chic styles I viewed on Instagram that I so desperately crave...

Amazing, right?? What new trends are you anxious to try? Until the next post...

Pausing Fashion for Food

So lately (pretty much two times a week) I have been concocting my new FAVORITE pasta. And do you want to know a secret? I made up the recipe. That's right, you can just call me a culinary genius. This pasta, seriously people, is one of my favorite things I have ever eaten. It's delicious, extremely easy to make and it's just as yummy when you eat it as leftovers! That is why I am going to write down the recipe so you can give it a try yourself...

CHICKEN, SPINACH & SUN-DRIED TOMATO PASTA
INGREDIENTS
-olive oil
-salt and pepper
-jar of minced garlic
-fresh bag of spinach
-jar of diced sun-dried tomatoes
-chopped or shredded rotisserie chicken
-Classico Alfredo Sun-dried tomato sauce
-one box of spaghetti style gluten free pasta

DIRECTIONS
-- Bring water to a boil, once it's ready add the spaghetti style pasta and a pinch of salt. Once it's done cooking, drain it and wash it off with cold water.
--In a large pot, saute as much spinach as you like (some people are huge fans like me, some people don't really like it) with at least one teaspoon of minced garlic, salt and pepper to taste, and enough olive oil to cover the bottom of the pan.
--Once the spinach has shrunken up and cooked through, add in at least half the jar of sun-dried tomatoes. Saute the tomatoes and spinach a little bit longer until they're sizzling.
-After the tomatoes and spinach are cooking, throw in the chopped rotisserie chicken. Mix all these ingredients really, really well and let them heat up nicely.
-Once you have mixed all these ingredients, add in the spaghetti style noodles that you have already cooked. These noodles tend to stick together so make sure that you stir it so that they come apart and everything is combined. After adding the pasta, pour in as much sauce as you like (I'm not a huge fan of too much sauce so I only add about 1/2 to 1 cup)
-Mix everything until it's one big, delicious pot of pasta!
ENJOY!

I Scream, You Scream, We All Scream for Ice Cream....Fashion, that is.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, friends! I have been absolutely SWAMPED with work. Oh my word. This year (like I've said many times) is SO busy I'm about to scream! Can't our teachers just cut us a little slack?? While my work load is getting heavier, the days are getting warmer and the spring trends are finally popping up around ECU! One trend that I discussed in my most recent East Carolinian column is...
  PASTELS(aka ice cream colors)
Yep, pastels are VERY in this season, and I’m not just talking about your average robins egg blue. Muted tones of any color you can imagine are on trend! Sorbet orange, mint green, chalk pink and countless others are stocking the shelves and I am ALL about it. I mean, who doesn’t love a crisp color palette for spring? I know I do! Pair some soft and subtle pallid yellow pants with a billowy coral top and you’ll be looking trendy and tranquil for the warm months ahead. So today I leave you with some spring inspiration that will have your mind running with idea upon idea of ways to mix pastels into your ever-growing wardrobe…
