Halloween & Holiday Hooplah

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
I hope everyone had a very fun and safe weekend! Can you believe how fast this year has flown by?? I feel like just yesterday it was the first week of classes and now the first semester of my Junior year is almost over! I CANNOT believe it. I am just shocked! Now that Halloween is about to pass, the holiday season is so close I can almost taste the Thanksgiving turkey! Soon there will be cute sweaters to wear, delicious food to eat, fun parties to attend and lots of time spent with family and friends! This is THE BEST time of the year and I am so excited about what's ahead! I LOVE the holiday season!
For a fun Halloween treat I decided to post a recipe shared by my friend Kelly who goes to Appalachian (my twin sister Laura's roommate)! Check out how to make this deliciously spooky treat...
GHOST COOKIES
What you need:
Bakers premium white chocolate
Miniature M&M's
Nutter Butters
Step 1: Unwrap all of the nutter butters that you purchased (sneak a bite if one "happens" to break in half...) and then lay them out on a baking sheet that is covered with aluminum foil.
Step 2: Melt white chocolate. Make sure that you use a small pot so that you can get the cookie completely covered when you dip it in. Make a nutter butter log cabin while your patiently waiting for it to melt....
Step 3: Pour mini M&M's into a bowl and place them side by side at onto the top of the cookie that is covered with chocolate so that it looks like eyes.
Step 4: Place each finished ghost onto the cookie sheet. Once you are done dipping and decorating each cookie, put the cookies in the refrigerator so the chocolate can cool and harden. Then ENJOY!!
How cute are those? Not only are they fun, adorable and easy to make, but they are a yummy treat to snack on during a movie night with your friends or before you attend that big Halloween party! While baking on this holiday is always a treat, fashion can be fun too. Many people think that it's tacky to dress up in orange on Halloween if you are over the age of 10, but just because your celebrating this haunted holiday doesn't mean you have to look childish! Check out these chic finds that are perfectly appropriate for someone who's too old to trick-or-treat, yet still in the mood to rock some orange and black on this festive fall day (links provided)...
Which orange and black piece is your favorite for Halloween? I personally think they are all perfect for this holiday! I hope each and and everyone of you had a haute and haunted Halloween! What kind of costume did you have? I am DYING to hear all about it! Until the next post...

5 Trend Thursday

Today I am going to talk about 5 trends that are SMOKIN HOT for fall to 2011. From the catwalk to the street, these styles are running rampant in the fashion world! Check them out...

MAD MENSWEAR
This trend started off small but is becoming larger than life! From blazers to oxfords and all the way to bow-ties, menswear is being incorporated into almost ever women's ensemble. Pair a fitted blazer with a sheer billowy maxi-skirt for a dressed up look, or combine some skinny jeans with a button down and heels for a fun night out on the town!

BRIGHTLY COLORED PANTS
When the majority of people think of fall fashion, muted and neutral colors come to mind...but thats not the only option you have! Bright colored straight leg pants are oh-so-popular this season. Pair a neutral colored top with some bright red skinny jeans and heels and your ensemble will be full of warm colors for fall, while remaining vibrant and flirty!

BARELY THERE MAKE-UP
The trends in make-up change at the speed of light. Whether its smokey eyes, rosy cheeks or purple eye-liner, getting creative with your color pallet can be fun and inventive! A trend that is chic, simple and easy for autumn is barely there make-up. Wear a silky nude lip color, subtle liner, a swipe of blush and mascara that makes your lashes look a mile long and you'll be looking gorgeous!

SEVENTIES STYLE
Can you feel the fever? Hot seventies style has made its way back around and it is as chic as can be! Patterned dresses, floppy hats and flared pants are just a few of the extravagant pieces that take you back in time. Try this look with those fringy boots that sit on the floor of your closet for a true seventies look, or make it modern with some skinny jeans and a top thats decorated with a haute hippie pattern!
FUR FRENZY
Whether your a PETA supporter who wants to protect the furry creatures of our world, or you like to spend a lot of money on the real thing, fur is prowling its way across the runway! Just because this trend isn't subtle doesn't mean that you have to look like you have a bear draped over your shoulders. Mix it up with a chic vest worn with skinny jeans and some booties, or combine a fur shawl with a maxi-skirt and a fitted cable-knit! This trend may be intimidating, but once you try it you will be roaring for more!

Are these trends already in your closet?? If not, then make sure you stock up before the cold comes around!

Leopard Loafers

The leopard loafers that I purchased the night before I left for the Big Apple are my new FAVORITE.
I have found that they look great with jeans, shorts, straight-legs, sweats, maxi-skirts...pretty much anything that you pair them with! And not only are they versatile, but they are EXTREMELY comfortable and can spice up any outfit without even trying. Here are some pictures of chic leopard loafers (with the links) that I found if you are looking for an easy way to pump up your wardrobe...

What's your take on this fierce trend thats prowling across the fashion world? LOVE IT? HATE IT?

Cus If She Wants To Rock, She Rocks

One trend that I am SO obsessed with this year, like I have been for pretty much my whole fashion life, is rocker style. I know I post about it all the time but I am just beyond in love with it. It is the definition of chic when a girl can look killer in some black skinny jeans, long hair and smokey eyes...thats pretty much the definition of hot (to me at least). This trend is classic and timeless and will never cease to look amazing.  Here are some pictures I found on Pinterest that inspired my inner rock star...

What is your go-to outfit when you're rockin this trend?

Can You Guess?

Obviously, I am not a professional photographer. I LOVE taking pictures, and I have to admit some of them turn out very nicely, but most of them just look like a regular shot. While in NYC with my mom and sister I tired my hardest to shoot some street fashion but I came up a little short with my results because I felt like such a stalker haha! Who knew it was so difficult to sneak a shot? Here are some NYC street style pics...can you guess which ones are mine?

...I definitely need to take some photography classes STAT. Oh well, it was still an amazing trip! What's YOUR favorite thing about New York City?
